Islamabad (Shahid Kazmi – RazTv.net) Hamad Azhar is new Finance Minister of Pakistan. In a big development in Islamabad, Prime Minister Imran Khan asked Ex-Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh to step down after criticism on his financial moves. Hafeez Sheikh was also getting strong rivalry within cabinet after losing senate elections. Controversy of bill-granting autonomy to the State Bank of Pakistan was also one of the reasons of removal of Hafeez Sheikh. Hamad Azhar, on his appointment as new Finance Minister said in his tweet, “I am honored to be entrusted with the additional charge of Finance by the Prime Minister. Pakistan’s economy has made significant gains towards stabilisation since 2018. We shall continue to consolidate these gains and strengthen the growth momentum”.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz praised the work done by Hafeez Sheikh for Pakistan. With this change, Federal government is hoping that Hamad Azhar will do the needful to counter inflation.
PTI led federal government is facing problems on financial front, as Nation witnessed its third Finance Minister, following Asad Umer and Hafeez Sheikh. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is also bashed by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari terming this change as win situation for PDM. In his tweet, he said, “Sacking Finance minister is victory of PDM. PTIMF minister needed to be elected to continue in post & senate defeat made that impossible. Now government admits inflation is skyrocketing because of its failed policies. Parliamentary opposition proven most effective vs this regime.”
