VIENNA: The Embassy of Pakistan in Vienna, in collaboration with Embassy of Turkiye hosted an event to raise awareness and mobilize local communities and philanthropic organizations in Austria for provision of humanitarian assistance to the floods affectees in Pakistan.
Besides the Ambassador of Pakistan and Ambassador of Turkiye in Vienna, the event was also attended by heads of Turkish NGOs, philanthropic organizations and members of Turkish and Pakistani community in Austria.
Ambassador Brigitta Blaha President of Austria-Pakistan Society and Mr. Andreas Zinggl, Programme Manager for Pakistan in Caritas also participated in the event. Ambassador of Pakistan in his presentation gave a comprehensive account of the situation on ground and relief and rescue efforts undertaken by the Government of Pakistan.
He underscored the importance of continued support of international community as Pakistan moves from rescue and relief to the next phase of reconstruction and rehabilitation. He stressed upon the audience to engage their respective communities and Austrian media to highlight the magnitude of devastation caused by the floods this year and to enhance their efforts to assist the flood affectees in Pakistan.
He also thanked the Turkish Amabssador and Turkish community in Austria for standing by the side of their Pakistani brothers which is a manifestation of the strong brotherly relations enjoyed by the two nations.
H.E. Mr. Ozan Ceyhun, the Ambassador of Turkiye in Vienna in his remarks assured of all possible support of Turkish community in Vienna. He stated that Republic of Turkiye resolutely stands alongside Pakistan in this hour of need.
Turkiye has extended full cooperation and all possible humanitarian assistance form the outset and has been at the forefront in relief and rescue operations. Ambassador Brigitta Blaha gave an account of the activities of Austria-Pakistan Society while Mr. Andreas Zinggl briefed the participants on assistance provided by Caritas in Pakistan.
Caritas, along with its local partners in Pakistan, is undertaking a significant assistance program which includes provision of essential items and reconstruction of houses in severely affected areas.
The event is part of Pakistan Embassy’s outreach program to raise awareness and generate maximum possible assistance for flood affectees in Pakistan.
