ROME : A fundraising event was organized by Association Pakistan Italy in Rome, Italy to help flood victims in Pakistan.

Head of Chancellery Sadia Gohar Khanum and Commercial Counselor Khalid Hanif participated as special guests in the fundraising event on behalf of Pakistan Embassy in Rome, Italy on the special instructions of Pakistan Ambassador Johar Saleem.

Head of Chancellery Sadia Gohar Khanum and Commercial Counselor Khalid Hanif were warmly welcomed by Association Pakistan Italy by presenting them with bouquets of flowers.

Local people including political, social and leading people from the Pakistani community along with their families participated in the fundraising event.

The ceremony was formally started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Syed Arslan Shah performed the recitation duties while the duties of the stage secretary were performed by Muhammad Rehman, the general secretary of the Pakistan Italy Association.

The well-known businessman Tariq Sharif Bhatti, the uncle of Chairman Association Pakistan Italy Shahid Bhatti, participated online and delivered a telephonic address.

Speakers from the event expressed their thoughts in turn. On this occasion, Nadeem Shaukat said in his statement that all of us Pakistanis are the identity of our beloved homeland Pakistan. In this hour of difficulty, we stood side by side with our countrymen and will continue to stand.

Speaking at the ceremony, Head of Chancellery Sadia Gohar Khanum said that “Thousands of people have been displaced and many human lives have been lost. I pay tribute to the Association Pakistan Italy who started the best campaign to help their countrymen”.

Well-known businessman Tariq Sharif Bhatti, in his speech formally announced the donation of 5 million rupees to the Association Pakistan Italy for the relief of the flood victims and said that “It is a matter of pride for me that I am no longer in Italy but my compatriots. The Tree of Sense is growing better. I am grateful to every association and foundation which does not forget its countrymen while living abroad.”

Founder Association Pakistan Italy Raja Aftab, Chairman Shahid Bhatti, President Raja Zulfiqar Ali, General Secretary Muhammad Rehman and local bodies, besides social leader Syed Arsalan Shah, business personality Aden Kamboh, Aslam Sohail Babar, Raza Saeed, Chaudhry Nisar, Abdul Wahab, Babar Waraich Napoli, Sandesh Kumar, Ayesha Siddique, Tabinda Shahid, Zubia Ali and Amrina Ali from Pakistan Student Association participated.

The Pakistani community participating in the event actively contributed on the spot to help the compatriots. Association Pakistan Italy succeeded in collecting funds beyond its target.

At the end of the ceremony, the Founder Association Pakistan Italy Raja Aftab paid tribute to the special guests from the embassy and thanked them.
