Ready to Negotiate With Afghan Taliban : Turk President

ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that European countries should take responsibility for Afghan migrants, we have no intention of becoming a ‘refugee storage unit’ in Europe and this is not our responsibility.

Speaking at a news conference in the Turkish capital, Ankara, Erdogan said that Europe should take responsibility for the migrants fleeing Afghanistan after the Taliban came to power, when we close our borders and send back illegal immigrants. Then it depends on them where they go.

The Turkish president said he was ready to negotiate with the Taliban on a common agenda.

Keep in mind that the situation in Afghanistan looks tense after the Taliban came to power. Many citizens want to leave the country, many Afghans have been relocated abroad.

Meanwhile, the UK has announced that about 20,000 Afghans have been granted asylum in their country. In addition, hundreds of displaced Afghans are looking for asylum in other countries, including Europe and the United States.
