Lahore : Former Director General of Lahore Development Authority Ahad Cheema was released on bail after three years.

A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Sarfraz Dogar issued a seven-page written order on Cheema’s bail application.

The court ruled that the accused could not be released at the mercy of the prosecution, the reference hearing was adjourned 66 times and the trial could take several more years to complete so the accused could not be in jail without such a long sentence.

To put it bluntly, both parties are responsible for the delay from the accountability court order sheet.

The court held that there are court decisions on unnecessary delays and delay in the precedent of court decisions is the best justification for bail.

Following the verdict, the accountability court issued Rs 50.50 lakh bail to Ahad Cheema.
