SIALKOT: Factory employees tortured and killed a foreign general manager.

Priyantha Kumara, the Sri Lankan general manager of a private factory in Sialkot, was allegedly tortured to death by factory workers and set on fire.

According to DPO Omar Saeed Malik, the incident took place on Wazirabad Road in Sialkot where the manager of a private factory was severely beaten to death by employees.

Police said that the employees also vandalized the factory located on Wazirabad Road and blocked the traffic on the road. Upon receiving the report of the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and tried to control the situation.

According to police, after successful talks with angry people, the protesters resumed traffic on Wazirabad Road.

The DPO says an investigation into the death of the foreign manager is under way.

The enraged people still showed no mercy and set fire to the severely injured foreign manager, as a result of which he was burnt to death. After the incident, the employees rioted and vandalized the outside of the factory and also damaged the vehicle. On this occasion, the police remained a silent spectator.

Taking note of the tragic incident that took place in Sialkot factory, the Punjab Chief Minister has demanded an immediate report from IG Punjab and has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Chief Minister Usman Bazdar strongly directed that every aspect of the incident should be investigated and a report should be submitted. No one can be allowed to take the law into his own hands.

On the other hand, IG Punjab has also taken notice of the tragic incident and has directed IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali and RPO Gujranwala to reach the spot immediately, said IG Punjab. And inquire into the incident from all other angles.
