Mansehra : Police have arrested Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami leader Mufti Kifayatullah from Mansehra.
Authorities say Mufti Kifayatullah’s arrest was carried out under the 3MPO. The federal cabinet had decided to arrest Mufti Kifayatullah for his anti-state remarks.
According to a statement issued by DPO Mansehra, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah has been arrested. A large contingent of police raided his house and arrested him.
On January 5, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG wrote a letter to the IGs of all provinces to arrest Mufti Kifayatullah.
The letter said Mufti Kifayat should be arrested and handed over to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in accordance with the law.
The letter said that an FIR has been registered against Mufti Kifayatullah, and he is wanted by the KP police, so he should be arrested and handed over to the KP police.
JUI-F has suspended his party membership due to continuous violations of party discipline and controversial statements by Amir Kifayatullah of Mansehra district.
It may be recalled that Mufti Kifayatullah, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, was arrested by the police in October last year and later released on the orders of the Peshawar High Court.
