ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has been appointed Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
According to News, the Senate Secretariat has issued notification of appointment of Yousuf Raza Gilani as Leader of Opposition.
Earlier, Yousuf Raza Gilani had submitted the petition with the signatures of 30 members.
On the other hand, the PPP has got the support of two independent members in the Senate on the issue of the Leader of the Opposition.
According to sources, two independent members of the Senate, Senator Hidayatullah and Hilal-ur-Rehman, signed in support of Yousuf Raza Gilani, after which the PPP has gained the support of a total of 26 members of the Senate.
