ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has requested the High Court to issue a permanent arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
A bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard appeals from the accountability court against the sentences of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar.
The apex court expressed surprise that no one appeared before the NAB during the hearing. On which Justice Amir Farooq remarked that NAB does not exist? It was the NAB that made the request. Has the NAB got corona?
The court granted the request of Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer Amjad Pervez to adjourn the hearing of the appeals. The case is set to be heard in the last week of May.
Later, NAB officials appeared in the Islamabad High Court and NAB Prosecutor Jahanzeb Bharwana sought the issuance of a permanent arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif.
On which Justice Amir Farooq remarked that who will provide judicial assistance as announced in Nawaz Sharif Azizia reference? Both NAB and Nawaz Sharif’s lawyers should assist the court on how to appoint a representative.
