Sometimes some of our compatriots argue that different languages are spoken in Jammu and Kashmir. The culture is different and above all Kashmir is a province of Jammu and Kashmir, so Jammu and Kashmir should not be called Kashmir.
Of course, Kashmir is a province and the history and culture of different parts of Jammu and Kashmir are also different, but should the different cultural colors of a state be considered its splendor or its problems?
Let us compare Jammu and Kashmir with two developed welfare countries of Europe. The official name of Holland is the Netherlands, which has a population of seventeen million. It consists of twelve provinces, two of which are in the Netherlands, but the Netherlands is often called Holland and no one is offended by it. What is more interesting is the fact that there are two major ethnic groups in Belgium, the Flemish and the Walloons. The population is about twelve million. The Flemish speak Dutch but do not consider themselves Dutch, while the Walloons speak French but do not consider themselves French. Yet, they are united despite this difference, and peace has existed in both states for centuries, due to which they are developing day by day.
Both these states have played an essential role in the formation of the European Union and are quite influential in this union. Belgium is a tax-free state, while the Netherlands charges taxes, but in return, the people have all the facilities of life. Both the Netherlands and Belgium have monarchy, but the powers are with the parliament and the king lives a simple life whose expenses are less than our president. The World Court is in The Hague, the Netherlands, and the European Union has offices in Belgium, while the secretariat is in Luxembourg City.
Joost Vondel is the national poet of the Netherlands and Emile and Hendrik are two of Belgium’s national poets in French and Dutch languages.
