Islamabad High Court Suspended Imran Khan's Sentence

The Islamabad High Court has suspended the sentence of Chairman PTI Imran Khan in the Tosha Khana case. Yesterday, the Islamabad High Court had reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of the parties on the petition of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s suspension of sentence.

The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court delivered a brief judgment orally and accepted PTI chairman’s request for suspension of sentence in the Tosha Khana case.

The court ordered PTI Chairman Imran Khan to be released on bail.

How much was Imran Khan punished?

On August 5, the trial court of Islamabad sentenced Imran Khan to three years in prison and a fine of one lakh rupees in the Tosha Khana case, after which he was arrested from Lahore and imprisoned in Attock Jail.

As a result of the conviction by the trial court, the Election Commission disqualified Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan from contesting the election for five years.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq and Justice Tariq Jahangiri heard the plea of Imran Khan against the trial court’s sentence in the Tosha Khana case.

On the occasion of the hearing, the lawyer of the Election Commission said that this is a case of corrupt practices, Chairman PTI came to the court for only 4 out of 44 hearings. After that, the trial was to be conducted by the Sessions Court.

On the other hand, chairman PTI’s lawyer Latif Khosa came to the rostrum and said that he did not want to interfere with the arguments of the Election Commission’s lawyer but wanted to refer some decisions.

Latif Khosa referred to the decision of the Supreme Court to uphold the suspension of Nawaz Sharif’s sentence and said that the lawyer of the Election Commission took one hour that day, two hours today.
