Indian Politician Navjot Singh Sidhu Arrested in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh: Indian politician and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sadhu has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh for protesting against the death of a farmer who was crushed under the car of a minister’s convoy.

It may be recalled that during the farmers’ protest in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, a convoy of Junior Home Minister Ajay Mishra belonging to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ran over the protesters, killing four farmers. Done.

According to local police, angry protesters set the car on fire after the incident, killing four people in the car.

Against the incident, Congress leader and Indian Punjab State Assembly member Navjot Singh Sidhu, along with other MLAs, marched outside the Governor’s House in Chandigarh to protest against the BJP government and in support of the farmers and staged a sit-in.

Protesters accompanied by Navjot Sidhu and other MLAs chanted slogans against the Modi government and the UP government and demanded the arrest of junior Home Minister Ajay Mishra. Members of parliament and political activists were detained.

Talking to media while in a police van, Sadhu said that it was a crime to demand arrest of the killers of farmers. It is my basic right to raise my voice for the farmers, said Navjot Sadhu, adding that the government was imposing its dictatorial thinking on the farmers.

It may be recalled that farmers in different parts of India have been protesting against the government’s agricultural policy for several months, while the Modi government has said that the government’s agricultural policy will provide better prices to farmers.
