Gujrat: FIA Joins MRC in Awareness Session on Safe and Regular Migration

Gujrat, Tehsil Jalalpur Jattan: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Joins Migrant Resource Centre in Awareness Session on Safe and Regular Migration.

The Migrant Resource Centre (MRC), in collaboration with the Isaar Welfare Society, organized an awareness session on safe and regular migration in District Gujrat, Tehsil Jalalpur Jattan. Inspector Badr Bashir represented the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and shared crucial guidance during the session. The session was attended by Irfan Mirza (President, Isaar Welfare Society), Naveed Butt (Chairman), Dr. Saqib, Shehzad Shah, and other members, along with a large number of local residents.

The session aimed to raise awareness about safe migration for employment, education, or residency abroad, while highlighting the risks associated with irregular migration. During the session, MRC Counsellor Maria Sohail emphasized the importance of opting for regular (legal) migration pathways. She highlighted research findings that most people choose to migrate for a better future, but a lack of authentic information often leads them to irregular migration. Many individuals mistakenly believe they can reach their desired destination quickly and at a lower cost through irregular means; however, the reality is quite the opposite.

The session also stressed the importance of contacting government-registered and licensed recruitment agencies or the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), established by the Government of Pakistan. The MRC Counsellor explained that the MRC conducts similar awareness sessions across various districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide free information about safe and regular migration.

Inspector Badr Bashir from the FIA appreciated the efforts of the MRC and encouraged youth to seek accurate information about legal migration from the MRC and relevant government institutions to make safe and lawful migration decisions. Participants found the session highly informative and commended the MRC’s initiatives.
