Defeated by India, Pakistan out of the race for the semi-finals in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy for the first time.
In the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, Pakistan crashed out of the semi-final race after being defeated by hosts India in the last match of the round robin.

In the match held in Chennai, the Indian team was overshadowed. In the 15th minute, India got a penalty corner which Harmanpreet Singh converted into a goal.
Harmanpreet scored the second goal in the 23rd minute to give India a 0-2 lead. In the third quarter, Jigraj Singh converted a penalty corner into a goal, thus the score of the game was 0-3 in favor of India in the 31st minute.
In the 55th minute, Akashdeep Singh scored the fourth goal and with the 0-4 defeat, Pakistan were eliminated from the race for the semi-finals for the first time in the event.
Pakistan team had five points in five matches. Japan and South Korea also had 5 and 5 points, but Pakistan could not enter the top four due to a minus 5 goal difference.
This is the seventh edition of the Asian Champions Trophy, Pakistan has played in the final in each of the first five editions, while in 2021 they played in the semi-finals. The 2023 semi-final line-up will be without Pakistan.
