Asia Cup 2023: Babar Broke Younis Khan's Record by Scoring 151

In the very first match of the Asia Cup 2023 ODI tournament, national team captain Babar Azam scored a magnificent century after which he broke the record of former Pakistani captain Younis Khan.

In the opening match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday, Pakistan defeated Nepal by 238 runs after a one-sided encounter.

In the first match of the Asia Cup played in Multan, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat against Nepal, after which the national team suppressed Nepal under the mountain of 343 runs thanks to the excellent batting of captain Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed.

Babar Azam scored the 19th century of his ODI career against Nepal and played a brilliant innings of 151 runs, while Iftikhar Ahmed also made the Nepalese angry and remained unbeaten with 109 runs off 71 balls.

In reply, the visiting team was bowled out for 104 runs in the 24th over.

Younis Khan’s record:

Babar Azam played an innings of 151 runs after which he became second in the list of highest run scorers in Asia Cup ODIs.

According to the International Cricket Council, the former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who scored 183 runs against Pakistan in the 2012 ODI Asia Cup, tops the list.

Now Babar has come to the second place, earlier this number was occupied by Younis Khan who has now moved to the third place.

Younis Khan played an innings of 144 runs against Hong Kong in 2004.

Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, who scored 144 runs against Sri Lanka in 2018, is fourth in the list, Pakistan’s star all-rounder Shoaib Malik, who scored 143 runs against India in 2004, is fifth.
