Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna, His Excellency Ambassador Mohammad Kamran Akhtar Malik, presented his credentials to the Director General International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi.
The Permanent Representative of Pakistan in his meeting with the Director General (IAEA) highlighted the significance Pakistan attached to its collaboration with IAEA. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for all flagship initiatives including ZODIAC, NUTEC Plastics, Rays of Hope, Atoms4Food and Atoms4NetZero.
The PR further underscored Pakistan’s active engagement with the Technical Cooperation projects being implement at the regional and inter-regional level. Three Pakistani institutes (NIAB, NISAS and PIEAS) have been designated as IAEA Collaborating Centres for different programs, Moreover, NORI has been designated as Anchor Centres for Rays of Hope initiative of IAEA.
Director General IAEA (IAEA), Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role at the Agency’s Policy Making Organs. He also appreciated Pakistan’s contribution in Agency’s Technical Cooperation program. He added that Pakistan has a well-developed program for use of nuclear energy for peaceful purpose with mature institutions and regulatory framework. He thanked Pakistan for its cooperation in implementing Agency’s Technical Cooperation program and expressed confidence that the two sides would continue to further enhance the same.
