ISLAMABAD: Under the Ehsas Framework, the 50th meeting of the BISP Board was held in which several important decisions were taken. The board approved the inclusion of all eunuchs in the Ehsas Kifalat program.

According to the official media APP, eunuchs with national identity cards will be brought under the ambit of sense of sponsorship. Under the program, savings bank account facility will be provided with a monthly stipend of Rs. 2000.

Eunuchs usually live as a separate community. All eunuchs of a family will be declared eligible for the sponsorship program.

According to the Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Division, the Board also approved the setting up of 154 District Level Ehsas Centers of One Window Ehsas Center at Sitara Market, Islamabad. This will give the beneficiaries access to all services under one roof. Work on this will begin immediately.

In this regard, the first One Window Ehsas Center was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on June 9, 2021 in the Federal Capital Territory to provide all the services related to Ehsas under one roof.

The Board has also approved the extension of Ehsas’s scholarships to secondary and higher secondary levels. The new conditional financial assistance program aims to help poor families educate their children from primary to higher secondary. The program will begin next month in all districts of the country.

Ehsas offers a higher stipend to girls than to boys with a special focus on girls’ secondary and higher secondary education. The monthly stipend is Rs 4,000 for girls and Rs 3,500 for boys.

Under the design of the program, all payments will be made to the mothers of registered children on the basis of biometric verification.

Dr. Sania Nishtar said that after the Corona virus situation, according to the strategy, secondary and higher education scholarships will enable low-income families to enable their children to get education up to Class XII.

The Board also approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Utility Stores Corporation for the Ehsas Targeted Subsidy Program.

The Board also approved the Budget 2021-22 on the recommendation of the Finance Committee. Many other decisions regarding operations were also taken.
