VIENNA: A 31-year-old woman was found dead in a family home in Vienna-Floridsdorf on Sunday afternoon. The police are investigating a violent crime – the body had serious head injuries and a serious stab wound in the abdomen.
The dead woman was discovered by her husband (32). Police spokesman Markus Dittrich said he had just returned from a skiing holiday lasting several days. “It must be assumed that a violent crime was committed. The coroner is on site, evidence is still being secured,” said Dittrich. The 32-year-old was questioned by the police in the evening.
The husband reported that he had not been home for a few days and had just returned from skiing with a large group of people. “It cannot be ruled out that a third person committed the crime or was involved in it,” said the spokesman. The couple’s two young children are said to have been in the house.
According to reports, they should not have noticed anything about the bloody deed on their mother. Relatives take care of them. The homicide discovered on Sunday is the third since the beginning of the year in Vienna and the first suspected murder of a woman: on New Year’s Day, a former pharmacist (74) was found dead in his house in Donaustadt. Two days later, on January 3, a 24-year-old was stabbed to death on the street in Margareten. In both cases, the perpetrator is still unclear.
