Operation in Kacha : Families of Martyred Officers Still Await Compensation

Kashmore-Kandhkot: A major police operation in the Kacha region on Wednesday resulted in the killing of four notorious criminals and the recovery of a large cache of weapons. However, while law enforcement officials hailed the operation as a significant breakthrough, families of the martyred officers continue to struggle for compensation months after their loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice.

According to official sources, the operation was launched following intelligence reports that a dangerous criminal gang was planning a major attack. Under the leadership of RPO Sukkur and DIG Larkana, and direct supervision of SSP Kashmore-Kandhkot, multiple police teams moved into the remote and difficult terrain of the Kacha area.

An intense gun battle broke out during the operation, lasting several hours and ending around 7:00 AM. Four heavily armed criminals were killed, all of whom were wanted in over 20 serious cases, including murder, kidnapping for ransom, and dacoity. Among those killed were three close aides of the region’s most wanted criminal, Indhar.

Police recovered a substantial arms cache from the scene, including four Kalashnikov rifles, 928 rounds of ammunition, 10 magazines, and three rocket launchers. In addition, six police camps have now been established across the Kacha area to prevent future criminal activity.

Authorities have announced a reward of Rs. 2 million for the officers who participated in the successful operation. The mission was part of a broader anti-bandit crackdown launched on March 20, 2025, under orders from the Sindh Government. Since the start of the operation, police say they have killed 18 bandits, rescued two kidnapping victims, and destroyed numerous criminal hideouts.

In a separate raid on the same day, police targeted the Bijarani gang in the Kot Shahu area. Led once again by SSP Kashmore-Kandhkot, the raid resulted in the killing of one gang member, while two others managed to flee. A Kalashnikov rifle, a pistol, and a stolen motorcycle were recovered at the scene.

SSP Kashmore-Kandhkot praised the bravery and coordination of the police teams involved and reiterated the force’s commitment to eliminating criminal networks from the region. He also highlighted the critical role of community support and intelligence sharing in the operation’s success.

Despite the operational achievements, concerns remain about the families of officers who were martyred in earlier stages of the crackdown. Many continue to face bureaucratic delays and have yet to receive promised compensation from the authorities.

Observers and police officials alike are calling on the government to urgently establish a dedicated compensation oversight body to ensure the swift and transparent delivery of benefits to the families of fallen officers. There is growing consensus that without meaningful support for the loved ones left behind, the sacrifices of these brave officers risk being forgotten.

As the fight against organized crime in the Kacha region continues, law enforcement agencies have vowed to maintain pressure on criminal networks — and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to help keep their communities safe.
